Longstanding providers of quality machine funk from Norway, Tromsø-based imprint Beatservice Records has been spanning a wide spectrum of genres throughout its 25 years + of activity - ranging from downbeat to electronica, via minimal techno and electro-pop blends. Returning this fall with a very special remix compilation featuring the likes of local talents Third Attempt, Lakeshouse, Jarle Bråthen, Kohib, Flunk and many more, the label has collated reworks pieced together over the last few years, with an extra trio of unreleased gems thrown in for good measure.

Though comprised of extremely diverse revamps that were not initially meant to match, label owner Vidar Hanssen wanted to make sure the compilation functions as a whole and for each track to complement one another in the most fluid manner possible. The result is a fifteen-track journey across brightly hued disco and laid-back filtered house terrains, sure to steer you away from the daily hubbub effortlessly.

Lifted from his debut album 'World Is Too Loud' issued a few months ago, Third Attempt's lush deep-house chugger 'Transit' gets the jazz-infused remix treatment from expert vibist Henrik Villard, previously heard on TwoFiveSix, Moskalus and Tooman. Setting us in a heavy-lidded poolside party scenario, the track has us drifting amidst hypnagogic vapours and beach sunrise vibrations as trumpets and hi-hats weave together in a graceful concert of sorts. Formerly known as Dj Denim and Dj Dongri Kobra, Christian Indregard alias Priq deconstructs Lakeshouse's 'Folkemusikk' to reshape it into a playful, tribal-infused analogue tech weapon, blurring the lines further betwixt traditional tropes and future-facing electronics.

A production outfit of DJs, jazz musicians and artists operating out of Oslo and Malmö, Lakeshouse add their own fun-loving, sample-heavy spin to Reggie Got Beats' anthemic dancefloor tune 'It's On Tonight', morphing the original into a proper no-nonsense rooftop summer jam of the finest ilk. An arpeggio-splattered affair, Jarle Bråthen's 'Melk i barten' finds itself extrapolated to further kosmische-compatible spaciousness by ISM and Black Riot affiliate Kellini - reaching for Space Art-esque discoid developments and a compelling state of zero-G levitational wellness.

Doused in a thick amalgam of 303-marinated acid and offbeat, rave-pollinated boreal pop, 'Nerver i en bunt' turns into a proper face-melting slice of left-of-centre, inner-weirdo-bound electro in the hands of former Beta Frequency member Eskild Trulsen alias SKL. Other notable remixes include Doc L Junior's (Full Pupp, Music For Freaks) immersively dreamy and dynamic take on The Familiar's 'White Poison', Terje Saether's spooky house dub version of 'Normal Eyes', or the straight out infectious nu-disco vibes of Reggie Got Beats' rework of 'So Good' that'll ease you into a world of earthly delights that, despite being grown in the cold North, feel and sound as though blessed with the warmth of unreal musical oases.
