01 | Under The Covers |
It's a basic feeling, and most know it (also hedgehogs): how - sometimes - you are just sick of it all, the people and the media noise and the stupidity. And your options are either moving to Mars, consuming a bottle of whisky or spend a week in the woods. Or - if you are a lucky one - you can just stay in bed with your lover. |

01 | I Get You |
Once again Flunk dip their toes into the pop music canon. "I Get You" is a take on the classic male/female duets from the Serge Gainsbourg songbook. A love song about the things only lovers get, if you know what I mean. |

01 | Fingertips |
Some famously great pop songs apparently have been written in ten or fifteen minutes. 'Fingertips' is that kind of pop song - a simple, no bullshit thing. It probably didn't take more than fifteen minutes to write, but - mystically - it took eleven years to record. We tried it for 'Lost Causes' and 'Chemistry and Math', but couldn't agree on the sound. So now we just finished it, more or less as we originally played it during rehearsals in 2010... |

A trusty purveyor of melodic feels since 2002, Oslo-based electronic outfit and longtime Beatservice affiliates Flunk follow up to the 2017-released 'Chemistry and Math' with their seventh full-length, 'History of Everything Ever'. Comprised of eleven songs, the album patches together trademark elements of soul-healing downtempo electronics and naive pop, infused in Nordic mystique and faded Americana tropes. Cutting a path of light in the night, slo-mo ballad "Down Here/Moon Above' catches us in its kaleidoscopic web right away. Innervated by the sensuous vocal flow of lead-singer Anja, the song takes us on a melancholic trip down memory lane where sensitive strings and heartbeat-like rhythmic pulse entangle in one rivetingly cold-warm ballet. More dynamic yet laid-back in equal measure, 'Fingertips' merges the carefree charm of childhood-like lullabies with verbed-out guitar riffs straight out the 90's pop continuum. Shrouded in the bright yet delicate hues of a summer voyage from the mountains to the sea, 'Midsummer' conquers with its flavourful elixir of nostalgic folk riffs and velveteen vox by the bonfire. Muted and languid to the full, 'Pullover' tickles another sweet spot with its Portishead-ian ambience and abstract geometry, hatching into a further Tricky-esque piece of trip-hop magnetism on the addictively steamy 'What Is Love?'. Pulling out a fine mix of two-step rhythms, heartrending violins and hazy boreal atmospheres, the highly cinematic 'Fate (or Coincidence)' has us traveling to welcoming ghostly lands and Anja's voice is our vessel. More subdued, neo-classical-imbued affairs, 'Ashes To Ashes' and 'Under The Covers' are pared-down soul-to-soul chatters whereas 'I Get You' highlights once more the band's love for US folk music, but with a vaporous post-modern spin a la The XX. Luxuriant and lyrical at first, 'In The Dark' ebbs and tides back to a quieter atmospheric vibe as Anja's voice guides us into quicksands of smouldering FX and dissolving envelopes. True to Flunk's ever moody melodic approach, the album's closer 'Cute Fluffy Thing' oscillates between wistful, tear-jerking let-go and vibrant hopefulness, certainly paving the way to brighter, more radiant tomorrows. |

01 | Midsummer (Single Mix) |
02 | Cute Fluffy Things (OK Wetten Remix) |
'Midsummer' is an ode to those precious few arctic summer nights with tropical temperatures and midnight sun, lots of people in the park down the street blasting beats from a sound system. They don't come often, so nobody really wants to go inside or sleep. The track and the title also says 'hello' to the sinister 2019 movie 'Midsommar'. |

01 | Down Here (Moon Above) (Drums Version) |
'Down Here/Moon Above' started out as our moon song, kind of commissioned by SpaceX (to make a long story short). In the beginning it was really simple, then we started building it. This version has drums and some other adds which we later decided to scrap for the single/album version. Just to make sure it stayed as simple as possible. This is the full version, which we feel is doing very nicely on its own! |

03 | Love Is What? |
Removing vocals from our tracks sometimes just doesn't work, some are just too reliant on the voices. Anja often use a lot of layers, which means a lot of harmony will be lost if removed. Other times our instrumentals open new soundscapes and make a totally different experience. On these three instrumentals from the 'History Of Everything Ever' album, we get a more dubby, sometimes dubstep-ish feel. |

1 | Fingertips (SKL Heartbeat Remix) |
SKL loves Flunk, and Flunk love him. He's been remixing Flunk for years, and when he heard 'Fingertips' from the latest album, he couldn't resist having a go. This time he has been working with Oslo based piano player Håkon Onsager and producer Psykosister (Hanne Kristine Haugland). The result is utter sweetness! |
